FALL 2009
TOURNAMENT
The goal for UTA sanctioned Tournaments is victory... personal victory.
We all remember the saying; "Its not whether you win or loose its how you play the game"
Unfortunately, as adults we either forgot it, or never believed it in the first place.
Lets get back to that time and place where we enjoyed the thrill of competition but did not let the results be the only thing that mattered.
Overcome Fear
One of the most common fears among adults and children is the fear of public speaking or presenting in front of large groups. By participating in tournaments you are learning to face your fear and are building courage!
Making the decision to participate in an activity like a tournament helps develop the important habit of challenging yourself. Just like working toward the next belt rank, tournaments provide the added motivation that is necessary to full potential.
Develop the Success Attitude
Success is not a downhill ride, the people that work through the peeks and valleys are the ones are at the top of their fields. Tournament victories are not about winning medals they are about the small inner victories. These inner victories are far more valuable to the development of the success attitude then any medal.
The ability to perform under stress is a necessary tool for athletes, businessmen, students and anyone who wants to perform at their best. Putting yourself in a healthy competitive environment helps you learn to channel this stress into positive energy that you can take advantage of.
Students get a chance to compete for the Gold next to fellow competitors that will cheer for them but also challenge them to do their very best.
Instructors can use the tournaments to motivate students and keep them focused between Testings. The best part is, because the Tournament is based on positive ideals and is fair, fun and safe there is no need for damage control the week following the Competition.

The Award they earn is named after what we consider the sixth Tenet of TaeKwonDo:
Personal Victory
We also understand that in today's society there are many time constraints and in most cases, other family members to consider. So, at UTA TOP TEN Tournaments competitors will know what time their division starts and ends three days before the competition. Usually on time, but sometimes off by only about 15 minutes, competitors and their families will need to spend only about an hour and a half at the event.
